Trafficking: HC issues notice to CBI, Kapurthala SSP
Chandigarh, August 16: The Punjab and Haryana High Court today issued notices to the Criminal Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kapurthala, and nine others on a petition filed by three Punjab residents.
The petitioners have urged the Court to direct the CBI to hold an inquiry and register a case on charges of rape and Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act against six persons, who have been named in the petition.
The petitioners have also sought directions to the Kapurthala SSP to seal the premises of a hotel in Kapurthala so that the evidence in the case can be collected.
The petitioners have alleged that two Kapurthala residents, who own three hotels in the city, were using the hotels as a brothel. A woman, who sought employment in the hotel, and later came to know about this, has made the allegation. The petitioners have also alleged that the ‘sex racket’, which is going in the hotels, also involve certain senior Punjab government officials and bureaucrats.
After considering the allegations, the HC has issued notices to the CBI and the SSP’s office.
