4 booked for running sex racket9 Sep 2007,
MUMBAI: Four women were recently booked by the Oshiwara police for running a prostitution racket from an apartment at the Lokhandwala complex, Andheri (W). Officials said the racket was being run under the guise of an ayurvedic massage centre. Among the accused, a 31-year-old woman acted as manager of the ayurvedic massage centre, but was actually the kingpin of the racket. The other three women, aged 25-29 years, worked under her supervision. The trio hails from middle-class families. According to the police, the accused ran a health clinic and spa on the third floor of a building. Massages were offered to known clients at Rs 5,000. The police sent a bogus customer on Wednesday morning and after he signalled, officers barged in with a team and nabbed the women. The building also houses a gym and two retail coffee outlets. All four women were booked under section 345 of the Indian Penal Code read with 7(B) of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act. They were produced before a metropolitan court in Andheri. While the kingpin was sent to judicial custody till September 11, the other three were released on bail
